The hearts of students are filled with deep affection for their Alma mater. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of our school, Zhu Ming, an alumnus of the 2010 graduating class of high school, donated his paper-cutting work "Thriving and Flourishing" to his Alma mater.
On the afternoon of May 28th, the donation ceremony was held in Conference Room 2. Those who attended the ceremony included President Xu Hailong, Vice President Lin Jiajing, Teacher Chen Ru, the class teacher of Zhu Ming, Teacher Hu Yun, the art director, and Teacher Liu Shuan from the school anniversary preparation team, among others.
Alumnus Zhu Ming is a member of the China Democratic Promotion Association and an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Wenzhou paper-cutting. Currently, he serves as the deputy secretary-general of the Wenzhou Folklore Society. At the donation ceremony, he expressed his sincere gratitude to his Alma mater for its nurturing. He said that at his Alma mater, he not only acquired scientific knowledge but also determined his life direction through the award-winning paper-cutting works at the art festival. No matter where the alumni of No. 21 Middle School are, their hearts are always with their Alma mater.
He introduced the meaning of the paper-cutting work "Thriving" donated to his Alma mater this time. The entire shape is square, with a blue background color, which is consistent with the color of the school's LOGO. The center is the school logo of Wenzhou No. 21 Middle School. Around the logo, there are flower petals designed. The patterns on the petals are crabs and cranes, symbolizing "one success and one fame" (names) and the success of the top scholar. The four corners are decorated with fish and dragon pictures, symbolizing a fish leaping over the dragon gate. The outer circle is decorated with lotus flowers, symbolizing continuous blooming and continuous promotion. He wishes his Alma mater to become better and better and thrive.
Then, a donation ceremony was held, and Principal Xu Hailong accepted this meaningful paper-cutting work on behalf of the school. He expressed his gratitude to alumnus Zhu Ming for his concern for his Alma mater and for adding luster to the school's anniversary celebration works. He also inquired about some of Zhu Ming's experiences when he was studying at the school. He said that the school, relying on the Tang River, enjoys a unique geographical environment and has a rich cultural heritage of the South Tang. The school's dragon boat team has well interpreted the inheritance of the Tang River culture and folk culture. He hopes that alumnus Zhu Ming can utilize his own strengths to support the school's development, enrich the school's educational model, and contribute to building a better No. 21 Middle School.
